Comber Rec 1-2 Albert Foundry 11th August 2009
1st Half
Albert Foundry went to Comber Rec on Tuesday night looking for nothing less than 3 points and a good hard working performance and that’s exactly what was given by all players on the pitch. Foundry started off this game very well passing the ball along the ground extremely well and giving Comber a bit of a run around for the first 20 minutes. Foundry went close through Paul McCord in the first half and were looking very solid at the back with Gary Chisholm, John Banford and Michael McAlinden looking very comfortable on the ball, along with Bill Maxwell and John O’boyle playing well in midfield. Foundry couldn’t have asked for any better of a response to Saturday’s poor performance than the one that the manager was getting from all the players involved.
2nd Half
Second half started off pretty similar to the first with Foundry playing all the football and it was the away side who got the rewards for the hard work and determination with a whipped in corner met at the front post by a towering header from Stuart Doyle to put Foundry 1-0 up. Comber didn’t have many chances in this game but late in the second half Comber claimed a very harsh hand ball in the Foundry penalty area and the referee obliged and give the home side a penalty to make the game 1-1 with 3 or 4 minutes to go. Foundry attacked once again as this 1-1 score line was not by any means a fair reflection of how the game was played so the Foundry players give it one last push and in the dying minutes the was a cross ball put into the box which was seen as met by the hand of a Comber defender so the referee gave the penalty and Dean West calmly stepped up and put it past the big Comber goalkeeper to win the 3 points and give Foundry a very well deserved victory.

1st Half
Foundry got off to a slow start in this game. The home side were slow to start as well but it was them who took an early lead with a cross ball to the back post that was put away by the Ards forward. Foundry started to get into the game and were playing some nice football down the left and right hand side. Stuart Doyle came close for Foundry only to see his free kick go narrowly wide. The home side then got a lucky break when a deflection off a Foundry player, looped over the goalkeeper and into the net. Ards then got a penalty just before half time to make it 3-0.
2nd Half
Foundry made a change at half time by bringing on Stuart McFarland to replace Aruna Djalo to try and push on and get an early goal in the second half. Ards were put under more pressure in the second half but they held their defence and when going on the counter attack got the 4th goal that wrapped the game up.
A very disappointing 4-0 defeat for Albert Foundry.
